Nutritional Snack Support Program – A Small Act of Love, A Big Impact

Capacity Building for Farm Forestry Monitoring: CROSS Team Trained at Bagepalli

Capacity Building for Farm Forestry Monitoring: CROSS Team Trained at Bagepalli

01  July  2025

CROSS runs 20 Resource Centres ( Volunteer Led) across Dalit hamlets, where children from economically poor families gather every day to learn and grow. While our dream is to provide nutritious snacks to all children regularly, the lack of dedicated funding has limited our reach.

However, hope shines through small acts of kindness. Mr. Puvvani Harish, the second-line leader of CROSS, along with his friends, has taken the initiative to celebrate their special days—like birthdays and personal milestones—by providing nutritional snacks to children in one village at a time.

Though modest, these gestures bring smiles, health, and a sense of belonging to the children. We believe that with more support, we can expand this effort and ensure no child at our centres goes hungry.

Join us in creating a healthier and happier space for every child. Your contribution can help us scale this small beginning into a sustainable program.

04  June  2025

As part of our commitment to transparency, accountability, and accurate field data management under the Farm Forestry Project, our Project Coordinator and Desk Monitoring Officer participated in a 7-day intensive training program held at Bagepalli, Karnataka.

The training was conducted by Fair Climate Services Pvt. Ltd. (FCS), The program focused on:

Hands-on training in using the Tristle Monitoring Solution, a digital tool used for tracking the progress of farm plots

Learning how to operate the Polygon Recorder for capturing accurate land boundaries

Practical field exercises on taking GPS recordings of farm plots and correcting shapefiles to reflect true field conditions

This training equips our team to ensure real-time, geo-tagged monitoring of 4,500 acres spread across Chittoor district, where CROSS is supporting 1,500 small and marginal farmers in transitioning to climate-resilient forestry models.

Our team has returned with improved technical skills and renewed commitment to maintaining data accuracy, ensuring that every planted sapling is mapped, monitored, and accounted for.

CROSS is proud to be a key partner in one of India’s most ambitious climate action initiatives—the Farm Forestry Alliance, led by Fair Climate Services Private Limited (FCS). This collaborative project spans nine districts across India, with a mission to promote sustainable agroforestry, enhance farmer incomes, and combat climate change through large-scale tree plantation efforts.

As part of this nationwide alliance, CROSS is spearheading the project in Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh, where we are working with 1,500 small and marginal farmers to plant over 4,50,000 saplings across 4,500 acres over the next three years. This initiative will not only sequester carbon and improve soil health, but also provide long-term economic benefits to local farmers through diversified, climate-resilient livelihoods.

Currently, CROSS has begun intensive preparatory work on the ground, which includes:

  • Conducting village-level meetings and farmer mobilization,

  • Collecting demographic data of participating farmers,

  • Entering data into a robust digital monitoring solution,

  • Capturing GPS coordinates and generating shape maps of farmland,

  • Preparing and submitting the Project Design Document (PDD) for Gold Standard certification—a globally recognized standard for climate and development projects.

Through this strategic alliance with FCS, CROSS is committed to creating a replicable and scalable model of community-led climate action—one that honors the knowledge of small farmers, promotes ecological restoration, and contributes to India’s climate and sustainable development goals.
